The Knights of Columbus 12- Under Soccer team completed a successful season.
KC 7 Brasher Falls - 1
The Knights of Columbus 12U soccer team finished its travel season with a victory. Greg Mallott opened the scoring four minutes into the game off a Hayden Ives assist. Ives found the back of the net two minutes later off of a nice lead pass from Katie Axtell as the locals started to control the play. Justyn McCormick then drilled home a shot with the assist going to Ali Moore followed two minutes later by another Axtell goal to give the locals a comfortable lead. Garrett Bell gave the KofC a 5-0 lead at the half with a blast from 25 yards out that found the top corner of the net. Six minutes into the second half Ives converted a Kelsey Pinkerton feed, followed by a Jake Sharpe marker one minute later with the assist going to Taylor Mack.
Berkelie Duprey made his debut in net for the KofC sharing the duties with Nick Sholette and Pinkerton to collect five saves.
Katie Rogers, Shelby Ross, Natalie McCormick, Mack, and Sholette all turned in stellar two way play from the midfield for the KofC.
KofC 3 Malone 3
The Knights of Columbus 12U booters roared back from two goal deficit to gain the draw. After falling behind 2-0 in the first half the locals rallied with three goals in the second half.
Six minutes into the second half Greg Mallotts nice feed sprung Hayden Ives who converted to cut the lead to 2-1 for Malone. Four minutes later Katie Axtell intercepted a Malone clearing pass and buried it into the back of the net from 20 yards out for the equalizer.
The locals then took a 3-2 lead with five minutes left as Ali Moore set up a nice goal by Jake Sharpe. Malone would score on a scramble in front of the net with three minutes left to salvage the 3-3 tie. Justyn McCormick and Nick Sholette combined for eight saves for the K of C. Ian Morrow, Garrett Bell, Kelsey Pinkerton, Caroline Lalone, and Kelsey Sherwin played strong defense for the locals. Steady midfield control came from Jake Adner, Berkelie Duprey, Shelby Ross and Taylor Mack.
