From the sound of it, the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla. is like summer camp for politics nerds.
North country delegates are sending along updates and photographs, which will be posted here throughout the day.
Here's part of an email that St. Lawrence County GOP Chairwoman Nancy Martin sent to me and fellow Republicans:
"Last evening we gathered with Committee persons from Rhode Island, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota and Rhode Island at Cha-Cha Coconuts for cocktails and dinner. Enjoyed talking with Committee persons from Wisconsin re Gov Scott Walker."
Ms. Martin sent along a picture of her posing with state Sen. Joe Griffo, R-Rome, who is also a delegate.
I spoke with Mr. Griffo last night, and he said it looked like the bad weather has passed. It's hot and humid there, he reports.
Michael Backus, the Oswego County Republican chairman, sent along a picture of former U.S. Sen. Al D'Amato speaking at a New York GOP breakfast this morning, and reports that Mr. D'Amato got a standing ovation.
Mr. Backus is also tweeting about the event as it unfolds.
UPDATE:
Mr. Backus tells me the Ron Paul floor-revolt was much ado about nothing.
"Minimal disruption really...it wasn't delegates doing the yelling mostly guest," he said.
