State Sens. Patricia A. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, and Joseph A. Griffo, R-Rome, are two of 14 state senators who wrote a letter to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo opposing a new transmission line from Quebec to New York City.
The project, the senators wrote in an Aug. 22 letter posted online by a state regulatory agency, would benefit a foreign company at the expense of upstate power producers by removing all the demand in New York City.
Project supporters, including its developer, Transmission Developers Inc., say it will help, not harm, upstate power producers and will reduce costs for New York City residents.
