RENNSELAER FALLS-HEUVELTON - Twenty five kayaks and canoes raced from Rensselaer Falls to Heuvelton On Saturday in the Remington II Canoe Race.

The Oswegatchie River wass very lowand the rapids were not so rapid but the collective spirit of the paddlers never dropped in the St. Laswrence Valley Paddlers event.

A prime example was that some of the competitors did the Heuvelton walk/ run race before the paddle race and some paddled back to the start afterwards.

In the recreational class James Hanna Sr. of Rensselaer Falls posted the fastest time, followed by Patrick Finn of Honeoye NY .

The competitive class was paced by a four-man canoe paddled by Gene Newman, Adam Wheeler, Dave Thomas, and Ron Reed. Allen Kelly posted the next fastest time.
