In a statement posted to his website Wednesday, Republican Matt Doheny explained what he'd like to see change about the Medicare program.
Mr. Doheny is facing Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, on Nov. 6.
A few of the ideas: Gradually increasing the retirement age to 67, means testing, keeping the prescription drug "doughnut hole" closed.
"This is not a plan," Mr. Doheny said. "Instead, these are some ideas I’d like to see incorporated in any bipartisan effort put before Congress."
Mr. Owens is against increased means testing and raising the retirement age.
