An Ogdensburg man was arrested Thursday for growing and possessing marijuana as well as other charges.

Mitchell W. Larose, 25, of 108 Albany Ave., was arrested at his home at 4:19 p.m. by Ogdensburg police. He was charged with a violation of unlawful possession of marijuana, Class A misdemeanor unlawfully growing of cannabis, Class E felony tampering with physical evidence and Class A misdemeanor criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.

In a news release issued Friday, city police Detective Sgt. Daniel C. Mousaw said members of the Ogdensburg Police Departments Narcotics Enforcement Unit went to Mr. Larose’s home to responded to a report of marijuana plants growing in a window of the residence.

Officers saw and identified the four small plants as marijuana.

While interviewing the head of the household, and making them aware of the reason for the officers’ presence, Mr. Larose allegedly made his way to the room containing the plants and destroyed them by flushing them down a toilet. Police said the bedroom containing the marijuana plants was his.

While taking Mr. Larose into custody, police said he was in possession of a small quantity of packaged marijuana and a hypodermic needle.

Mr. Larose was released on an appearance ticket, answerable at Ogdensburg City Court on Thursday.
