MASSENA - The Massena Central junior varsity football team continued its undefeated march through the 2012 NAC season on Thursday by marching to a 60-24 win over OFA at Mike Nicholas Field.
The rushing duo of Patrick Manning and Zach Plourde anchored the potent junior Raider offense. Manning went for 130 yards on 8 carries, including touchdowns scampers of 22 and 52 yards, while Plourde generated 89 yards, including touchdown bursts of 19 and 68 yards on just three runs.
Massena is an outstanding team but we play them again in two weeks. We work hard in practice to do a better job, saod OFA Coach Jerry Sawyer.
The OFA JVs continued to receive prolific offensive leadership from quarterback Joey Dalton (7x13-0-209 4 TDs) and receiver Nick Sweeney (5-189 4 TDs) who combined on four touchdown pass with collaborations of 37, 46, 45 and 36 yards. Taylor Richardson led the Devils rushing efforts with 44 yards on four carries.
Austin VanGorden led the OFA defense with seven tackles and two sacks followed by Nathan Rise with six tackles and Adam Rickett with five. Other tackle contributions were: Cody Rolfe (2), Deven Compo (3),Justin Ross (4), Andrew Layng (3), Richardson (3), Sweeney (3), Zach Worden (2), Adam Bouchey (1), Ed Newcombe (3) and Brent Mills (2).
