Canton Girls Win McQuaid title

ROCHESTER — Laura Pierce finished in fifth overall to lead the Canton girls cross country team to the Varsity A team title at the McQuaid Invitational Saturday.

Canton finished with 94 points in the multi-team event and Maple Grove was second.

Maria Ricalton finished in 11th place for the Golden Bears.

PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 2

The Red Raiders (3-2-4) snapped a 1-1 halftime tie with a three-goal effort in the second half to defeat Parishville-Hopkinton in the championship game of the Bill O’Neill Tournament in Massena.

Robert Cameron, Dave Phillips, Anthony Cortese and Dan Elman scored goals for the Red Raiders.

Logan Johns scored both goals for Parishville-Hopkinton (5-1).

SALMON RIVER 4,

HERMON-DEKALB 0

Brady Mitchell assisted on three goals as the Shamrocks defeated Hermon-DeKalb (2-6) in the consolation game of the Bill O’Neill Tournament.

Naylen Laffin, Josh Hynes, Antoine Domino and Ryan Thomas scored goals for the Shamrocks (1-4-2) and Zach Smith made seven saves for the shutout.

CHAZY 4, OFA 1

Nathan Reynolds scored two goals and set up two others with long throw-ins as Section 7’s Chazy (9-0-1) defeated the Blue Devils in a nonleague game in Ogdensburg.

Brandon Laurin and David Poitras also scoerd for the Eagles. Conor Hannan scored the only goal for OFA (4-3-1).
