Democratic Rep. Bill Owens of Plattsburgh received the National Rifle Association's highest rank and its endorsement yesterday, according to his campaign.
"I am proud to receive this endorsement. Our region is home to thousands of sportsmen and I consider it my responsibility to defend their Second Amendment rights," Mr. Owens said in a news release this morning.
Mr. Owens received an A+ rating, which means he voted for all the right things and was also an outspoken advocate for gun rights.
Republican Matt Doheny, Mr. Owens' Nov. 6 opponent, received an AQ rating, the highest rating possible for someone not currently in office.
