It will be a celebration of fall, an early start on Christmas shopping and, most of all, a community thank-you at Ogdensburg’s Richard G. Lockwood Civic Center Oct. 13.

The second annual Fall Vendor Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will spotlight the food, beauty and health care, kitchen goods, arts and crafts of 28 local vendors.

Each of them will donate an item for a giveaway.

The proceeds generated by the sale of the giveaway tickets will be divided equally between the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center and the annual PJs 4 Xmas campaign to buy pajamas for needy children for Christmas. Tickets are $1 for one or $5 for an arm’s length of 15.

The admission-free vendor show is the brainchild of two friends, Brandy Middlemiss and Tia M. Beaulieu, both of Ogdensburg.

In addition to the first fall show last November to benefit the center and the pajamas program, there was also one in February to benefit the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club. Both were held at the Dobisky Center.

“We just wanted to give something back to the community,” said Miss Beaulieu, who is a clerk with the city Parks and Recreation Department which runs the Lockwood and Dobisky buildings.

Miss Beaulieu is not only covering the $200 cost of renting the Lockwood building that day. She is also giving it some activity. For her boss, Parks and Recreation Director Matthew J. Curatolo, it is a double dose of good news.

“Those are the kinds of things that we’d like to see more of,” he said. “It’s a start.”

Neighborhood Center Director Patti M. Conger is looking forward to stocking her food pantry shelves and helping her clients to pay for utility bills with the proceeds.

“It’s definitely going to help,” she said.

The vendors who will be in attendance are: Avon, Fabulous Focals by Linda, Bee Art Shop, Down by the River Crafts, Velata Chocolate, Homemade Crafts by Jenny Fisher, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Jamberry Nails, Partylite, Silpada Designs, BB&B, Puppy Style Dog Biscuits and Thirty-One.

Also: Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, Arbonne, Scentsy, Creative Ladies, Linen World, Bows and a Bit More, Stampin Up, Lou Lou’s Tutu and More, Body by Vi 90-Day Challenge, Create a Can, Bev and Diane’s Beaded Jewelry, Smith’s Crafts, Pretty Piggys and Lynn’s Halloween Costumes.
