Come to the Greenbelt in Ogdensburg Saturday and pretend youre wrapped up in the noisy oom-pah glory of an authentic beer hall in Munich, West Germany.
The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce will present the first annual Ogtoberfest on the grounds of the Dobisky Visitors Center and city marina, both overlooking the St. Lawrence River on Riverside Avenue.
For both food and entertainment, the menu will be varied.
We have a fantastic program for this year, said Sandra M. Porter, the Chambers executive director. We put this together in one month.
The Seaway Valley Jumpers will set up at 11 a.m. with its inflatable bounce houses, games and cotton candy.
The Frederic Remington Art Museum Kids Place will sponsor kids arts and crafts from 1 to 4 p.m.
The beer garden, authentic German food booths - serving bratwurst and sauerkraut and pretzels - and music by the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division Band from Fort Drum, Carl Perkins and Surfers R-Cool will all begin at 2 p.m. and continue through 7 p.m. when the fireworks begin.
The 10th Mountain Division Band will perform from 3 to 5 p.m.
Admission to the enclosed beer garden is $2 per person.
For the event the Chamber GreenMarket farmers markets usual Saturday stand will move from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Library Park to noon to 7 p.m. by the other Ogtoberfest setups in the Greenbelt.
Twelve produce and craft vendors will be there.
I want the city to see what a good farmers market we have, Ms. Porter said.
