Brooklyn man placed on probation for cocaine possession

CANTON - A Brooklyn man convicted of possessing cocaine was sentenced Thursday to five years’ probation in St. Lawrence County Court.

Demarien T. Richey, 18, of Brooklyn, was charged in February with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He possessed crack cocaine in Ogdensburg in February 2011.

Acting County Court Judge Kathleen M. Rogers also suspended his driver’s license for six months and ordered him to pay $375 in fees and surcharges.

In other court action, Joseph R. Kuhn, 31, of 505D Sleepy Hollow Road, Gouverneur, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary, a Class D felony and third-degree forgery, a Class A misdemeanor. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 14.
