Unbeaten General Brown will begin its bid for another Section 3 Class C football title with a tough opening quarterfinal.

The Lions (6-0), champions of Class C North, were seeded third Sunday in Class C-1 as the 16 teams that qualified in Class C found out their opponents. General Brown will play host to No. 6 Utica Notre Dame (4-2) at 7 p.m. Friday in the C-1 quarterfinals.

The qualifying schools with the largest enrollments were placed in Class C-1, along with three private schools — Immaculate Heart Central, Utica Notre Dame and Bishop Ludden.

IHC (4-2) is seeded eighth and will play at Canastota on Friday night. Bishop Ludden (4-2) is the fourth seed and will host No. 5 Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (3-3) on Friday.

Skaneateles is home to No. 7 Sherburne-Earlville (4-2).

General Brown has posted five consecutive Class C North shutouts, and has outscored its Class C opponents, 227-0.

Lowville (4-2) drew the No. 7 seed in Class C-2 and plays at No. 2 Waterville (3-3) at 7 p.m. Friday.

In other C-2 quarterfinals, No. 8 Little Falls (2-4) is at No. 1 Herkimer (5-1), No. 5 Mt. Markham (3-3) is at No. 4 Frankfort-Schuyler (4-2) and No. 6 Syracuse Institute of Technology (2-4) plays at No. 3 Tully (4-2).
