MASSENA A Massena couple is in custody after being charged with breaking into a female acquaintances home early Thursday and forcing her to engage in several sexual acts.
Village police charged Nathaniel W. Dodson, 30, and his wife, Bobbi Jo S. Dodson, 30, both of Riverdale Apartments, 90 E. Hatfield St., Apt. 42, with first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal sexual act.
Nathaniel Dodson also was charged with first-degree rape. He additionally was charged with false personation after he initially identified himself to police as Todd Singleton.
The incident reportedly occurred between 4 and 4:30 a.m. Thursday on Water Street. Police said the Water Street woman suffered injuries as a result of the attack.
Village Police Chief Timmy J. Currier said police are continuing their investigation into the incident, including searching for a motive.
The perpetrators knew the victim, and the victim knew the perpetrators, he said.
The Dodsons were arraigned by Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and sent to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, with bail set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond each.
It is the third felony sexual assault investigation that has resulted in charges being filed by village police in the last two weeks.
Police charged Jason D. Tassie, 29, of 8 Tracy St., with felony counts of first-degree burglary and second-degree aggravated sexual assault on Sept. 22 following a lengthy investigation into the sexual assault of a woman in her mid-80s on Aug. 8, 2009. Police have credited a recent DNA sample provided by Tassie with connecting him to the 2009 incident. He remains at the St. Lawrence County jail on $100,000 bail.
Last week, police charged Robert L. Pitts Jr., 53, of 492 S. Main St., Apt. 2, with second-degree rape and second-degree criminal sexual act. He allegedly had been having a sexual relationship with a now 14-year-old girl over the past two years. He is being held at the St. Lawrence County jail.
