The City Council set an Oct. 22 public hearing to consider an ordinance requiring municipal vehicles to be left on city property overnight.
Last month, Councilman Wayne L. Ashley proposed a resolution forbidding staff members to take their city-owned vehicles home in response to complaints that some were driving their cars home during lunches or at the end of shifts.
However, Mr. Ashleys proposal requires amending Ogdensburgs Administrative Regulations, which provide city vehicles for some department heads and staff members, requiring an ordinance and a public hearing to change the policy.
The council will likely pass the ordinance after the public hearing.
