MASSENA - With Halloween only two weeks away, St. Lawrence Centre is making plans for holiday-themed events including the return of the mall’s Halloween party.

“I can remember when I was a kid they had done one, and it was very well attended,” Marketing Manager Lindsey S. Breitbeck said. “As kids we were always excited about it.”

While it has been several years since the mall has hosted a party, Ms. Breitbeck said the mall has been hosting children’s activities like pumpkin decorating and a costume contest.

“We’re wrapping it all together,” she said, adding the party will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 27 in the former Radio Shack store on the Sears end of the mall.

“It’s painted all black in there, so it will fit in with the theme,” she said.

Children are welcome to pre-register for the party or simply come on the day of the event.

“We’ll have games, music, refreshments and pumpkin decorating,” she said. “Mom and dad can come in and help decorate a pumpkin or play a game.”

Ms. Breitbeck said some mall events tend to focus heavily on the children, but this party is something that everyone can enjoy.

“This is something that the whole family can come too,” she said. “There will be something for everyone.”

Costume judging will begin at approximately 2 p.m. and $20 mall gift cards will be awarded for the funniest, scariest, cutest and most original costume.

Typically Kid’s Club events are open to children ages 3 through 12, but this event, she said will be open to children of all ages.

Halloween activities will then continue on Halloween night, when the mall hosts it’s annual mall-wide trick-or-treat for children of all ages from 6 to 7 p.m.

“We offer a dry, warm and safe trick-or-treating environment,” she said.
