Michael C. Howard, 27, of 132 Maywood Terrace, was arrested by state police Wednesday on charges of second-degree forgery and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
He was released without bail following arraignment in Watertown City Court and awaits possible grand jury action.
Police said a purse containing credit cards was stolen on Sept. 28 from a car owned by Rachel Layhee, Felts Mills, in the parking lot at Target, outer Arsenal Street. Purchases were made with her cards at Lids, Salmon Run Mall, and at Franklin Street Market, police said. Store security videos helped identify Mr. Howard as the suspect, police said.
