PHILADELPHIA — State police say a 17-year-old girl punched a 15-year-old girl in the face Wednesday morning at Indian River Central School, knocking the victim down and continuing to strike her.

Shannon E. Murtha, 34504 Holmes Road, Theresa, was charged later in the day with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She is due to appear in Philadelphia town Court.
