LOUISVILLE - With some people believing the Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world to be coming Dec. 21, the Apostolic Temple will host its first prophecy conference this weekend.

“Everyone is wanting to know about the Mayan calendar and how it says the world is going to end on Dec. 21,” Pastor Elam Fontenot said. “We’re going to cover the book of Daniel and the book of Revelations in the bible.”

Mr. Fontenot said people interested in learning more about the apocalypse or people who believe the end is near should attend.

“Both of those books cover different end world scenarios and prophecies about what is going to happen,” he said.

The speaker both nights will be Jordan Anderson, an evangelist from Louisiana.

“He’s going to use current world events to prove those prophecies are true,” Mr. Fontenot said.

Mr. Fontenot said the presentation will be appropriate for children and people of all ages are invited.

“There are different ways to talk about the apocalypse. You can make it really scary or you can keep it kind of light,” he said. “This will be kind of light. Kids can come. For a lot of people the book of Revelations is scary enough.”

The Apostolic Temple is located at the corner of the Browning and Martin Road, approximately one mile from the Browning Road, state Route 37 intersection.

The church, which had previously been holding its services at the Quality Inn, has been at its new Martin Road home for just over two weeks, now holding its services in the historic Louisville Landing Free Union Church, a church that was built in 1852.

“It used to be on the river, but in the 1950s they moved it,” he said.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

“The prophecy conference is a way for us to invite everyone from the community and let them know we’re here,” he said, adding he’s hoping to make the conference an annual event.
