M-W Booters claim 2-0 shutout win over Norwood-Norfolk

NORWOOD - Madrid-Waddington’s Randy Ball generated a pair of goals on Friday leading the Yellowjackets past Norwood-Norfolk in NAC East Division play.

Ball scored both goals for the Yellowjackets (5-4-2, 5-2-1 NAC East) including the game winner from Colin O’Bryan in the 24th. He finished the scoring in the last minute of the game unassisted as Zach Brock made eight saves in the shutout. Garrett Waite had 13 saves for N-N (1-10, 1-9 NAC East).

In other action, Chateaugay topped Brushton-Moira 1-0 while Salmon River edged St. Regis Falls 4-3. In girls play, Parishville-Hopkinton doubled St. Lawrence Central 4-2, Brushton-Moria blanked Colton-Pierrepont 2-0 and Norwood-Norfolk rolled past St. Regis Falls 7-0.

BOYS SOCCER

Chateaugay 1, Brushton-Moria 0: Matt Swanston scored in the 52nd minute and Devon Barnes made three saves in the shutout for visiting Bulldogs (6-3-3, 6-3-1) win over the Panthers (6-4-1, 5-3-1). Taylor Tallman made four saves for B-M.

Salmon River 4, St. Regis Falls 3: Antoine Domino generated a pair of goals and Brady Mitchell connected for a goal and two assists as the visiting Shamrocks (2-7-2) held on a 3-1 halftime lead against the Saints (2-8). Elden King also scored for the winners.

For the Saints, Caleb Green scored two goals and Brandon Votra logged a goal. Caleb Brandon and Ryan Duquette each produced an assist.

Zach Smith made 10 saves for Salmon River. Michael Smith made eight saves for St. Regis Falls.

GIRLS SOCCER

Parishville-Hopkinton 4, St. Lawrence Central 2: The Panthers (8-2-1) scored three second half goals to overcome a 2-1 halftime deficit against the visiting Larries (1-7-1). Michaela Cole scored from Emily Sloan and Kodi Perkins to tie the game in the 47th. Perkins scored the game winner from Cole in the 61st and insurance goal from Sloan in the 74th.

Lindsay Thayer scored both Larries goals in the first half connecting from Maia Parcaro and Chloe Gardner in the 5th and 25th. Sloan connected from Cole in the 21st.

Marlee Wilson had 11 saves for P-H. Kristin Daniels made 17 stops for SLC.

Brushton-Moria 2, Colton-Pierrepont 1: Rachel Tower scored unassisted in the 43rd and Kenzi Traynor connected from Ericka Russell 12 minutes later for the visiting Panthers (6-4) who shutout the Colts (2-7-1). Ashley Debeer had eight saves for B-M. Kaitlyn Miller stopped 10 shots for C-P.

Norwood-Norfolk 7, St. Regis Falls 0: At St. Regis Falls, the Lady Flyers (4-5-1) ran out to a 3-0 lead by halftime and never looked back as Emily LaRoe generated three goals and two assists to spark the winning effort. Alexis Sweet added a pair of goals while Aleah Palmer and Megan Stevenson struck for the other goals while Jorji LaBarge, Kirsten Barkley, Carlea Weaver and Heidi Simons each earned solo assists. Mickey Frego (3 saves) and Megan Plumb (1 save) combined to backstop the shutout while Kiana Stowell handled 12 of the shots she faced for SRF (0-10-0).

VOLLEYBALL

Chateaugay 3, Tupper Lake 0: The 12-0 Bulldogs swept the Lumberjacks 25-3, 25-10, 25-13. Kylie Hanley paced the Bulldogs with 20 service points. She had seven aces among the 20 points and added 11 assists to the win. Carolyn Stumpf had 18-point, 10-ace effort as Caitlin Miller had 12 assists and eight kills.

Salmon River 3, Brushton-Moira 0: The Shamrocks rolled past the Panthers 25-17, 25-15, 25-16. Leading the 10-2 Shamrocks were:

Nicole Smoke (18 service points, 9 aces, 7 assists), Kasennakohe David (6 service points, 3 aces, 9 kills), Cassie Boardway (10 service points, 3 aces) and Kaitlyn Pickering (10 service points, 2 aces).
