Flyers Strong 2nd At Carthage Invitational


CARTHAGE - The Norwood-Norfolk boys and girls cross country teams finished second to South Jeff at the Carthage Invitational on Saturday. The Flyers boys had 73 points. South Jeff was first with 32 points and Nick Anderon on Carthage combed the course in 17:02.31. The Flyer girls had 71 points as South Jeff finished with 21 points led by medalist Skyler Pastor 19:57.51

Kyle Fulk of N-N finished third with a 17:50.73 in the boys race.

OFA’s Andrew Cole placed eighth with a time of 18:21.26 for the Devils who finished seventh overall. Deven Grant was 12th and Adam Saucier was 13th for N-N which also saw Connor Levison run 21st.

Nick Vielhauer was 48th for OFA while Spencer Lawrence, Seth Monpelier and Josh Gordon finished 5nd, 53rd, and 56th. Glynn Breen was OFA’s fifth scorer placing 59th and Dennis Garrett ws 64th.

N-N’s Kaycie Saucier and Leah Livernois were fifth and seventh overall in 21:12.77 and 21:18.53. Sarah Mitchell of OFA finished 10th in 22:08.62 as the Devils ran incomplete. Kurstyn Macaulay and Ellen Miller were 12th an 13th overall in 22:12.19 and 22:15.30. Markie Williard finished 41st.


Ethan Vinson finished third overall in 16:49.34 at the Bill Coughlin Invitational at Rome from Potsdam Central whose team ran incomplete. RFA’s Erik Vinberg was first in 16:21.08. Potsdam’s James Merrill was 37th in 18:54.14.

In the girls race, Potsdam had 193 points as South Lewis won with 62 and was led by Victoria Campanian in 18:41.11. Marie Amell was 21st for Potsdam in 21:49.49 while Sarah-Marie Choong was 41st in 23:22.96.
