While campaigning in Pulaski, state Sen. Patty Ritchie got close enough to a deer to pet it.

The Snow White-esque moment was captured by the Ritchie campaign and posted to her Facebook. Mrs. Ritchie is facing Democrat Amy Tresidder, an Oswego County legislator, on Nov. 6.

Mrs. Ritchie put an astonishingly hilarious caption on the photo, which follows in full:

"COULD BE A REPUBLICAN!

Ya never know! And I'm not taking a single vote for granted, as I spent Wednesday in Pulaski, asking for voters' support. (Just don't tell Tom I let one get away!)"

Tom is her husband and, apparently, an avid hunter.

UPDATE: The deer is named Bella, and has its own Facebook page, with more than 2,000 friends. I'm hearing that the deer lets just about anybody pet her, and enjoys Cap'n Crunch cereal.
