'Why Matt?'

Earlier today I went to Matt Doheny's campaign office and happened upon the talking points that the Republican is giving to people who go door-to-door.
I don't have similar documentation from Democratic Rep. Bill Owens' campaign, so I won't post it in full, but here are two interesting snippets:
First comes first. Under the heading "Why Matt?", the campaign says, "We need Matt — who spent his career helping companies create jobs and become profitable."
This could be the issue upon which the entire election hinges. The Democrats have been much more aggressive in defining Mr. Doheny's business background, which they say reflects "Wall Street" values.
"His opponent, on the other hand," the talking points state, "is an attorney with no business experience."
The Owens campaign would likely object to that. Mr. Owens was part of a team of people who helped recruit Canadian businesses to the Plattsburgh area, serving as the team's attorney. Mr. Owens has described himself as a businessman.
The other thing I wanted to highlight comes under "spending." When Doheny partisans are walking the streets, they're told to tell people, "He will eliminate needless government programs and opposes the Ryan Budget."
This helps show that the Rep. Paul Ryan's spending plan doesn't poll well in the north country. Mr. Doheny opposes the Ryan budget because it doesn't balance the federal budget deficit quickly enough. Mr. Owens opposes it because he believes it goes too far in the way it changes Medicare, Pell grants and other programs.
