The campaign cash gap between Republican challenger Matt Doheny and Democratic Rep. Bill Owens is the largest of any congressional race in New York, and it favors Mr. Doheny, according to the Albany Times Union.
Jimmy Vielkind compiled a list of spending by campaigns and outside allies in eight competitive races. He found that Mr. Doheny's campaign and outside groups supporting Mr. Doheny have spent $4.2 million. Mr. Owens and his allies — the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is the only significant one — have spent $2.2 million.
In total, the campaigns and their allies have spent $6.3 million, putting it behind several other races, like Bishop-Altschuler, Maffei-Buerkle and Maloney-Hayworth.
