OFA, Canton Host Regional Games Today


Class B

OFA vs. Ichabod Crane

When, where: 6 p.m., tonight, SUNY Canton.

Records: OFA (8-5-4); Ichabod Crane (18-0-1).

Outlook: The Blue Devils earned their first trip to the state playoffs since 2003 with a 1-0 win over Potsdam. OFA has played in a lot of low-scoring games this season. The leading scorer on the team is Gian Rufa, who has nine goals and two assists. Conor Hannon has scored seven goals and Nate Peo has six. Jacob Sias has handled goaltending duties this season. ... Ichabod Crane defeated Greenville 2-0 in the Section 2 championship game afte. Seth Scarano has been a part of almost every goal for the team, with 11 goals and 39 assists. Tyler Jablanski has 14 goals and seven assists and Alex Niemann has 11 goals and nine assists. Pierce Reilly is the starting goalie and the Riders have allowed only five goals this season.

Class C

Canton vs. Hoosick Falls

When, where: 4 p.m., today, SUNY Canton. Records: Canton (9-4-4); Hoosick Falls (15-5).

Outlook: Canton defeated Brushton-Moira 1-0 in the Section 10 championship game to reach the state playoffs. The Golden Bears, ranked No. 17 in the state poll, are led by Matt Mende, who has four goals and eight assists. Tanner Sanderson leads the team with five goals. Francesco Palumbo has scored four goals. Scott Wight has been the primary goalie. ... Hoosick Falls beat Maple Hill 1-0 in overtime to claim the Section 2 championship. Tyler Carr scored the game-winner in that contest and he leads the team with 13 goals. Noah Chani is the Panthers’ goalie.


Potsdam vs. Plattsburgh

Records: Potsdam (9-6-2); Plattsburgh (11-4-2).

Outlook: A 2-1 win over Gouverneur sent the Sandstoners to the state playoffs. Potsdam’s leading scorers are Kalie Grant (7 goals-2 assists) and Annette Rishe (7-1). Ally Miller has scored four goals with seven assists. Breanna Sapp and Jenny Tardelli have played goalie this season. ... Plattsburgh defeated Saranac Central 2-1 to win the Section 7 championship game with Brooke Knight providing both goals for the Hornets. Class C

Canton vs. AuSable Valley

Records: Canton (12-5-1); AuSable Valley (7-11).

Outlook: Canton shut out Tupper Lake 2-0 to earn its trip to the state playoffs. Emily Rexford leads the team in scoring with eight goals and 12 assists and Kali Frank has produced nine gaols with four assists. Tori Daley and Lauren Smith each have four goals. The Patriots did not give up a goal in the Section 7 playoffs, routing Ticonderoga 6-0 and defeating Northern Adirondack 3-0 in the championship game. AuSable Valley played much of its schedule against bigger schools. Taylor Saltus leads the team in the postseason with three goals.

and Meghan Strong and Rachel Knapp each have scored twice. Bryce Douglass is the team’s goalie.
