Amvets Post 19 will take over the citys Veterans Day services in Groulx Park Sunday.
Amvets Commander Robert G. Flavin said, I am sure they will take it back, but this year they asked us to take it over.
The news comes after Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2936, 525 Caroline St., closed several weeks ago after having its electricity and phone disconnected.
Commander Larry Latimer, who at the time said he hoped to have an overdue bill paid and power to the building restored, resigned his post last week, according to Auxiliary President Marsha L. Morrow.
The post remains closed. Representatives of the state and national VFW organizations said the Ogdensburg post is still listed as active.
Mr. Latimer could not be reached for comment.
