Ogdensburg Minor Hockey Teams opens season well


The Ogdensburg Minor Hockey Pee Wee team down Alex Bay while the Midget team fell to Norfolk and Cicero in recent play at the Lockwood Arena.

Ogd Pee Wees 4, Alex Bay 1: In the first period, Justin Brabant scored unassisted and Garrett Bell scored from Julian Rufa. ABay’s Mason Gorman scored from Deegan Shaffer just before the period ended to cut the deficit to 2-1.

In the second period, Garrett Piercey scored from Garrett Bell and Chayton Massic and Blake Amo connected from Stephen Morley.

Jacob Ball had seven saves in the first half of the game and Conner Smith made eight saves in the second half.

Consistent offensive play was created by Zachry Thomas, Loren Putman, Braydon Amo, Austin McRoberts, Dakota Woods, Alex Barrett, and Jordan Fennessy and Stern defensive play was provided by Nicholas Sholette, Jake VanHouse, Olivia McRoberts, and Johnathan Trathen

Norfolk Midgets 5, Ogd 2: Norfork grabbed a 2-0 lead early when Tanner Stickney scored from Bailey Cortese and Zeb Brown connected from Tyler Valdez. Izac Sovie trimmed the deficit to 2-1 on goal assisted by David Middlemiss.

In the second period, Norfolk’s Zeb Brown scored from Tyler Valdez and Coby Munson. In the third, Dylan Jock scored from Izac Sovie before Norfolk received scores from Munson and Tristen Harvey with assists going to Harvey and Brown.

Other solid offensive play came from Zach Barr, Austin Putman, Josh Trathen, and Hayden Woods for Ogdensburg while goalie Gaetan Pothier had 44 saves with defensive back up from Jared Berg, Andrew Putman, Jacob Sholette, and Matthew Sholette.

Cicero 4 - Ogd Midgets 2: Mark Morrow scored twice for the locals with Jared Berg collecting an assist and Gaethan Pothier had 39 saves.
