LISBON An expansion of the towns beach and campground is nearly finished.
Michael J. ONeil, Lisbon beach and campground director, said last week that it is roughly 85 percent finished.
Adding 11 sites and upgrading 32, the $173,000 project is slated to be finished within the coming week.
On Friday, workers from Fiacco & Riley Construction, Norwood, were busy digging trenches for the power lines that will provide electricity to the new sites.
We have to test the sewer and the water, Mr. ONeil said, describing whats left on the project.
Additionally, wind gusts over the last several days removed much of the seeding and mulch work done on the campground.
Well have to do more seeding in the spring, Mr. ONeil said.
The project also has been plagued with holdups because of large stones, or small boulders, that fill the ground in the area. Many of these stones have been moved to line the campgrounds road.
Mr. ONeil said the campground already is being booked for next year.
