Jean L. Ryan


Jean L. Ryan, 76, of Black Lake, NY passed on Sunday, November 4, 2012 in Canton-Potsdam Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born on August 8, 1936 daughter of Mary (Bracy) and Raymond Loucks Ogdensburg, NY.

She attended local schools. She worked for the New York Telephone Company until her marriage to Thomas W. Ryan, January 31, 1959 in Niagara Falls, NY. In 1961 they moved to Black Lake where she and her husband owned and operated the Oasis Restaurant for 44 years.

She is survived by one son and four daughters; James Loucks, Black Lake; Patti and Philip Perry, Macomb; Terri and Russell Gilmour; Ann and Bob Showers; Debra and Junior Aldrich, all of Black Lake. Nine grandchildren Natalie, Christopher, Jennifer, Jacob, Kerri, Cassandra, Morgan, Brandon and Zachary. Eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Also residing in Syracuse, NY a sister in-law Terry and brother in-law Joseph Liquori and brother in-law William Ryan of Ogdensburg.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; three sisters June Woodcock, Grace Marion and Helen Ann Bracy and four brothers George, Herbert, Bud and Lawrence Bracy; and one grandson Joel Ryan.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Stone Church, Ogdensburg, NY for 63 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and cooking/baking for family, friends and the patrons of the Oasis Restaurant. She was a former member of the Morristown Planning Board.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Presbyterian Stone Church, Ogdensburg, officiated by Pastor David Hart. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations could be made to Morristown Fire & Rescue Co. and/or Brier Hill Hill Fire Dept.
