Class A Quarterfinal

Massena vs. Jamesville-DeWitt

When, where: noon, today, SUNY Canton.

Records: Masssena (15-1-1); Jamesville-DeWitt (17-1-2).

Outlook: Massena beat Malone 3-0 to win the Section 10 title game. The only loss for the Red Raiders this season was a 1-0 defeat against Indian River on Sept. 22. But Massena also defeated the Warriors 1-0 in the season opener. Massena had a scoreless tie with Class B champion Canton. Dominique Valancius leads the team with 12 goals and 14 assists. Iestha Porter scored seven goals this season. ... Jamesville-DeWitt earned its trip to the state playoffs with a 1-0 win over Section 2’s Burnt Hills in a first-round game. Paige Sherling scored the goal just nine minutes in for the Red Rams. Maddy Devereaux is the team’s leading scorer with eight goals and 19 assists.

Class D Quarterfinal

Chateaugay vs. Elizabethtown-Lewis

When, where: noon, today, Potsdam High School.

Records: Chateaugay (19-0); Elizabethtown-Lewis (12-6-1).

Outlook: Chateaugay has cruised through the season, allowing seven goals and having only played in four games decided by one goal. Chateaugay has scored 74 goals and has two players with 20 or more goals. Alexis Beach leads the team with 27 goals and eight assists and Courtney Boyea has 20 goals and eight assists. Hannah Cook has scored 10 goals with 15 assists. ... Elizabethtown-Lewis upset two-time defending state champion Chazy 2-0 to win the Section 7 title. The Lions are led by Kylee Cassavaugh, who has 19 goals and four assists, and Emily Morris (9-17).

Class D Quarterfinal

Heuvelton vs. Chazy

When, where: 2 p.m., today, Potsdam High School.

Records: Heuvelton (13-3-2); Chazy (18-0-1).

Outlook: Heuvelton won three games by one goal to reach the state playoffs and now will be tested bya matchup with three-time defending state champion Chazy. The Bulldogs edged Madrid-Waddington 1-0 in overtime in a Section 10 semifinal then defeated Chateaugay 2-1 in the semifinals and reached today’s game with a 1-0 win over Harrisville in the championship game. Aaron Cobb leads the Bulldogs with 16 goals and four assists. Joe McDonnell has scored seven goals with three assists and Jon Sloan and Jeff Arquitt each have six goals. ... Chazy has not only won three straight state titles, but the Eagles have won four of the last five and been in the state title game every year. Chazy cruised through the Section 7 playoffs, winning three games and outscoring the opposition 24-2. Brandon Laurin leads the offense with 41 goals and nine assists. Nathan Reynolds has 19 goals and 13 assists, while Jason Barriere has scored 14 goals with 12 assists.
