CANTON — A St. Lawrence University fundraiser contributed $5,600 to assist local breast cancer patients and their families.

The school’s athletic department sponsored the Power of Pink Week with a goal of raising $6,500 by selling T-shirts. All proceeds went to the Gouverneur Business Women, the group sponsoring the Gouverneur Breast Cancer Walk. The funds help patients and families with transportation and living expenses during their treatment.

Though the campaign has fallen short of its goal, shirts remain on sale at $10 for a pink shirt, $15 for tie-dye. Interested parties can call head volleyball coach Shelly Roiger at 229-5875.
