LISBON – Planning Board Secretary Patrick M. Madlin announced his resignation at Mondays meeting.
Im going to resign, said Mr. Madlin at the end of the meeting. Ill serve until you find a replacement.
This puts the matter into the hands of the Town Council, which meets Wednesday.
The Town Council is the body that appoints members of the public to the Planning Board.
Relations between the Town Council and the Planning Board soured after the Council assigned Code Enforcement Officer Christopher Sherwin to look into adjusting the mandate of the Board. Specifically the Council wanted to take the Boards authority over residential properties away and place it in the hands of Mr. Sherwin.
Ive talked to some of the [Council] members and I havent heard anything, said Planning Board Chairman Steven Wallace speaking about the pending decision.
Mr. Wallace said there seems to be no consensus among members of the Council on how to proceed.
Mr. Madlins resignation comes after news that another board member, Glenn R. Harris, has also resigned.
Mr. Madlin and Mr. Wallace both said Mr. Harris spoke to them about resigning and he was not at Mondays meeting.
However, Town Clerk Donna D. McBath said, last week, that she hasnt seen any letter of resignation and Town Councilman Nathanael Putney said he is unaware of any resignation by Mr. Harris.
It sounds like the Town Council doesnt know, said Mr. Wallace.
Mr. Wallace said I might be taking a long term vacation too after Mr. Madlin resigned.
Members of the Planning Board serve on a voluntary basis.
