WAPPINGERS FALLS - Malone Central senior Conor Gordon took the high achievements of his cross country career to the next level, on Saturday, placing ninth at the New York State Federation Championships at Bowdin Park in Wappingers Falls.
Gordon covered the 5K course in 16:24.1 leading the Northern Conference and Section 10 Class B Champion Huskies to a ninth place finish out of 30 of the states best public and private schools.
The Canton Central Girls also made a strong showing taking 15 out of 27 schools in the Girls Race at 368. Stepping into the team leadership role with NAC Runner of the Year Laura Pierce sidelined, sophomore Maria Ricalton (20:01.1) led the Bears with a 43rd place followed by Rebecca DelRossi 44th (20:03.1).
Saratoga claimed both the Girls and Boys Federation Championships. The Saratoga Boys scored 70 points followed by the Academy of Holy Names at 101 and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at 182. The Saratoga Girls scored 116 points followed by Arlington (166) and St. Anthonys (182).
The individual champions were: Sebastian Hanson of Arlington in 16:00.7 and Katie Lembo of Penfield (18:22.6).
