ALBANY - A Hogansburg man was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court, Albany, to more than seven years in prison for his role in a conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

Adam M. Jacobs, 24, was sentenced to 87 months in prison for March 23 guilty pleas to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to possession with intent to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

He admitted that he arranged sales and deliveries of the drug around the Hogansburg area and throughout the state, to customers who received between 5 pounds and 25 pounds or more of marijuana.

In the days leading up to Sept. 6, 2010, he worked with others to gather 500 pounds of marijuana, which he directed be stored in a van under the security of a co-conspirator. Federal law enforcement agents seized the drugs the following day. He also admitted that he possessed a Russian-made AK-47 rifle and other weapons that had traveled in interstate commerce.

He was ordered Friday to undergo five additional years of supervision upon his release from prison and to forfeit the guns.

Bradley Rickerl, 24, Hogansburg, also has pleaded guilty to the conspiracy and firearms charges. He was due to be sentenced Thursday, but sentencing was adjourned until Feb. 27.
