Copenhagen- The funeral for William F. VanLuven will be 3:30 pm Saturday, December 1st, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown, with Pastor David Haldeman from the Carthage Mennonite Church officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Copenhagen. Calling hours will be Saturday December 1st from 2 pm - 3:30 pm prior to the funeral. Contributions may be made to the Carthage Mennonite Church, 235 Spring St., Carthage, NY 13619 or Hospice of Lewis Co., Lowville, NY.

Mr. VanLuven, 93, of the Doran Rd., passed away Tuesday evening at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Harrowsmith, Ont., Canada, a son to Fred and Edna Campbell VanLuven. He married Genevieve Dailey October 12, 1939. Mr. and Mrs. VanLuven owned and operated a dairy farm in Copenhagen from 1953 until retiring in 1992. Mrs. VanLuven passed away January 18, 2011.

Mr. VanLuven was involved in Agway, WMHR, and the Cornell Cooperative Extension. He is a member of the Carthage Mennonite Church and a former member of the Free Methodist Church on Arsenal St.

Mr. VanLuven is survived by a son Ronald, Leesburg, FL. Two daughters, Carol McLallen, So. Edmeston; Jean Brunson, Copenhagen. 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren. A sister Dorothy Wincoff, Texas. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Allen VanLuven and two sisters, Violet Sibley and Shirley VanLuven Rose.
