Ellen G. Wilkinson


LAKE BONAPARTE — Ellen Grace Wilkinson, Hitchcock Bay Rd., died Thursday morning, November 22, 2012, at the Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, where she had been a patient for a short time.

Born in Syracuse on April 15, 1943, the daughter of Taylor R. & Violet Freeman Cummings. She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1961 and from the Central City Business Institute, Syracuse in 1962. She married Hugh A. Wilkinson on May 4, 1963 in Deer River. She was a receptionist for MR Gaebel in Carthage for 30 years. Mr. Wilkinson died on July 25, 2012.

Ellen enjoyed living at the family camp on Lake Bonaparte in the summer and spending winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies.

She is survived by her daughter, Jamey Wilkinson, Hammond, 3 grandchildren; Devyn Workman, Lauren Workman, both of Hammond and Bailey Wilkinson, Black River. Also surviving are her brother, Robert Cummings, Carthage and her sister, Geraldine Fink, Watertown. A son, Alan Wilkinson died in 2000.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26th at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Burial will follow in Swinburne Cemetery, Deer River. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday prior to the service, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
