THERESA State police say a woman went to a house seeking assistance, then stole the residents prescription bottle of Oxycodone.
When the theft victim, not identified by police, later confronted the woman about the theft, he was told she would have the medication waiting for him in her mailbox, police said. The prescription owner called troopers to make the retrieval.
Dionne M. Brown, 42, of 28561 Bartlett Drive, Theresa, was charged Sunday with petit larceny and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony. Her husband, Ross E. Brown, 37, is also charged with the felony count. They are ordered to appear in town of Theresa Court.
The incident occurred the night of Nov. 15. Police said Mrs. Brown went to the mans house, claiming that her car had run out of gas, and asking to use the bathroom. The man then drove Mrs. Brown to her home, and upon his return, discovered that his bedtime medication was missing, police said.
After being telephoned by the victim, Mrs. Brown, joined by her husband, kept her promise by placing the narcotic in their mailbox. Doing that constitutes selling it, according to state law, an investigator said.
