Funeral service for Otha M. (Deere) Moniere, 75, of Potsdam, will be held at 4:00pm on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam with Pastor Lee Sweeney, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00pm until the time of the service. Otha died on Saturday, November 24 at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus.
Otha was born May 16, 1937 in Hopkinton, the daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Castle) Deere. Otha was married to Joseph Moniere in
1953, he predeceased her in 2000. She was a child care provider and homemaker.
Otha is survived by her six daughters, Judi and John Brankacz of Macedon, NY; Barbara and Keith Fuller of Potsdam; Suzzy Moniere-Rotella of Potsdam; Linee Moniere-Brouse of Potsdam; Cinde and Butch Johnson of Watkinsville, GA; and JoAmiee and JonScott Charleston of Potsdam. Otha has 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and sister-in-laws.
Four brothers, Willard (Billy) Deere, Otis (Jackie) Deere, John (Donney) Deere and Gerald (Jerry) Hager, predecease her. Otha is also predeceased by a granddaughter, Beth Lamphere-Fuller.
Otha loved camping, the ocean, playing shuffleboard at the Moose Lodge and especially her grandchildren. She was a past member of the VFW and Moose.
