AKWESASNE - The newly-opened Cascades Lounge at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino recently hosted a check presentation to Ironworkers Local 440 for proceeds from this summers 10th Year Anniversary Ironworkers Festival at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino. Darlene Dilcox, long-time organizing committee member and director of Casino Services, was pleased to present former Business Manager, Mike Swamp and Local 440 representative Bill Sears with a check for $5,657.96, which includes proceeds from t-shirt sales as well as registration fees for the competitors.
Mrs. Dilcox said, It is a tremendous honor for our community and the casino to host this wonderful event year after year.
The money will be deposited into the Local 440 Fund and be used for members of the organization. It has been a great relationship with the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino and its an event we, as a community, look forward to each and every year, Mr. Swamp said.
The Ironworkers Festival celebrated its 10th Year Anniversary on July and the top honor of the Ultimate Ironworker went to now two-time defending champion Eric Costa from Local 301, Tampa, Fla. Forts Brickhouse Pizzeria was again crowned as the winner of the Chicken Wing Contest as well.
