Watertown native Matt Puccia was presented the Direct TV 2012 NASCAR Sprint Car Crew Chief of the Year Award on Thursday. Puccia was named the top crew chief during the annual Myers Brothers Awards Luncheon in Las Vegas.

Puccia has been driver Greg Biffle’s crew chief since during the 2011 season, being promoted by Roush-Fenway Racing.

Biffle won two Sprint Cup races this past season. He also had 14 top-five finishes and 26 top-10 finishes. The race team finished fifth in the Championship Chase that concluded earlier this month. The race team earned more than $5 million dollars for the Roush-Fenway team.

Puccia, the son of Gary and Susan Puccia of Henderson, is a 1995 graduate of Immaculate Heart Central. He has been with Roush-Fenway since 2005.
