Marcus Leandry, 40, homeless, was arrested by Watertown police Wednesday night after he allegedly punched a woman in her left eye.
The arrest was his fourth this year in incidents involving Nichole L. Eves, 31, of 76 Bridge St., West Carthage. Police said her eye was swollen shut and she had a bloody nose.
Mr. Leandry was detained for arraignment Thursday in City Court on charges of third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Police said that after he was arrested in the 200 block of Mechanic Street on the assault charge, he kicked a patrol car window out of its track.
State police arrested him on June 27 in Carthage on a charge of second-degree menacing in a knife threat upon her. Information about disposition of that charge was not available Thursday from Carthage Village Court.
On Aug. 23, Watertown police charged him with second-degree criminal contempt, but the charge was later reduced to disorderly conduct, according to City Court.
Carthage police arrested him on Oct. 1 at her residence, then on South James Street, on a charge of resisting arrest. He was convicted on that count and served a three-week sentence in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
