The renovation of the Texas home of a wounded former Fort Drum soldier will be highlighted in an upcoming special episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Staff Sgt. Shilo Harris, who served in Iraq in 2007 with the 1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, suffered massive burns and lost three fingers, his ears and the tip of his nose when his Humvee was hit during a patrol south of Baghdad.
Crews earlier this year demolished Sgt. Harriss home near San Antonio and built a new house with improved cooling and ventilation that would help in his recovery.
The episode, scheduled to run Dec. 17, is listed as the shows last. A profile of Sgt. Harris and his family can be found at www.usoonpatrol.org/archives/2012/11/27/10th-mountain-soldier-gets-a-n.
