FORT DRUM The new rank and assignment for outgoing post commander Maj. Gen. Mark A. Milley was confirmed Monday in a vote by the U.S. Senate.
Gen. Milley was nominated by President Barack Obama in November to be promoted to lieutenant general and to lead Fort Hood and its III Corps. He will take over command Dec. 20.
At Fort Hood, Gen. Milley will replace Lt. Gen. Donald M. Campbell Jr., who was confirmed earlier this year to lead U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.
Maj. Gen. Stephen J. Townsend took over command of Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division at a change of command ceremony Monday.
