MALONE - Season number 47 kicked off with a full slate of games for the Franklin CYO Basketball League, all 47 under the direction of Ken Cring, with Assistant Director Wayne Walbridge helping out for over 40 of those years. Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, PAPAS Dairy, and North Star all picked up opening day wins.

OBGC 59, Bangor 47: Trailing 15-9 after one quarter, the ‘Burg team went on a 26-8 run in the second to forge a lead they would never relinquish. Ryan Petell led the winners with 16 points, followed by Konnor Murdock and John Morrison with 11 apiece. Dillon ‘Rudy’ Binion, Dave Tomford, and Alec Manke rounded out the scoring with eight, seven, and six. The OBGC has run the table for the last three years, compiling a 40-0 record over that span. Bangor played tough, and made a couple of serious runs after falling behind, but could never completely close the gap. Ryan Jaques led the scoring with 14, followed by John Paul King with 12. In B team action it was the OBGC over Chateaugay 28 to 14. Zach Ashley led the winners with nine points ,while Zach Worden added five and the trio of Aidan Shea, Brent Mills, and Spencer Mayette added four apiece.

PAPAS Dairy 50, St. John Bosco 30:PAPAS played a tremendous game in picking up their opening day win. Little Wally Poupore led all scorers for the game with 16, followed by Tyreek Snead with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 steals.North Star 34, Maranatha 23: Mike LaVoie led the winners with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals.
