Beverly J. Paris Monroe

Beverly Jean Paris Monroe, 78, of Wilmington, NC, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington with her family by her side.

Beverly was born in Watertown NY, April 26, 1934, daughter of the late Gerald Paris and Mary Ransom Paris.

She was a 1952 graduate of Watertown (NY) High School and spent many years employed in accounting firms in Watertown, NY, Syracuse, NY, and Oklahoma City, OK, prior to relocating to Wilmington in 1972 with her family.

She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones shopping and dining and will be truly missed by her family and the many friends she met along her way.

Surviving is her husband of 59 years, Vernon Lee Monroe, Jr. who she married on June 20, 1953; a daughter, Cathy Monroe Pleasant and husband, Scottie Pleasant and their children, Erin Pleasant and Ryan Pleasant, (Wilmington); a daughter, Tracie Monroe Crews and husband Victor Wayne Crews and their children, Victoria Crews, Skyler Crews, and Savannah Crews, (Wilmington); a son, Michael Edward Monroe and wife Carrilee Goslee Monroe and their children, Lauren Monroe, Weston Monroe, and Julia Monroe, (Wilmington); sisters, Gloria McCoy of Rutland, NY, Mary Lou Fayette, Donna McGregor, Diane Paris, all of Watertown, NY, and Carol Beltz of CA; and brothers, Richard Paris of Syracuse, NY, Robert Paris of Watertown, NY, and Donald “Ducky” Paris of Wilmington, NC.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by in-laws, Vernon Lee Monroe, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Monroe; a sister, Jeanette Feisthamel and a brother, Gerald “Jughead” Paris, both of Watertown, NY.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, NC.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1:00 pm Thursday until the service hour, and other times at the Monroe residence in Wilmington.
