OGDENSBURG The city Police Department has added two new marked patrol cars to its fleet.
Chief Richard J. Polniak said Monday that the pair of black and white 2013 Ford Interceptor police sedans will be in service once they have been outfitted with radio, radar and other electronic equipment and visually identified as Ogdensburg police cruisers with lights and decals.
We expect in two weeks to have them on the road, he said.
The new cruisers cost the department $24,600 each on state bids and it will cost up to an additional $7,500 to equip and customize each one.
They will be part of the departments fleet of five marked cars, replacing a pair of 2008 Ford Crown Victoria sedans.
Mr. Polniak said the old cruisers have racked up too many miles and are beyond use.
The new units are smaller than their full-sized predecessors.
