CARTHAGE Jeffrey M. Forbes, 23, of 33560 Hall Road, was being held Thursday in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, on charges of third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.
Bail was set by Champion Town Justice Karen Freeman at $1,500.
State police allege that Wednesday night, he punched Stephanie Forsay, 36, same address, on the side of the head and choked her after finding her examining the memory of his cellphone.
Mr. Forbes served eight months in prison for a November 2007 conviction in Jefferson County Court on charges of third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision website.
