TUPPER LAKE - Three special teams goals in a span of 4:26 of the second period backed an 18-save shutout by goaltender David Prudhomme as the Ogdensburg Free Academy hockey team downed Tupper Lake in a Division II matchup on Wednesday night.

Brandon Mullin scored the first two goals of the game from defenseman Joe Giglio after the Devils were denied by 15 first period saves by Lumberjack goaltender Marcus Richer who went on to collect 32 stops on the night.

Mullin created a 1-0 lead with a power play goal at 4:12 and then took a pass from Giglio and weavered away through traffic for a shorthanded goal two minutes later.

“Brandon Mullin’s second goal was really nice and it was nice to get a win in our first game and get rid of the first game jitters,” said OFA Coach Jon Frederick.

“We played a lot of guys and seventh grader Jared Barr did a nice job. But we are a work in progress and we will look to keep it going in a nonleague game at home at 1 p.m. Saturday against Plattsburgh and in a big game with St. Lawrence Central on Monday.”

Drew Costin completed the scoring with a shorthanded goal from Andrew Roddy.

In other Division II action Wednesday Malone downed Norwood-Norfolk 3-1.

Malone 3 - Norwood-Norfolk 1: Joey Brown stopped 42 shots in goal as the Huskies opened their season with a Division 2 win over N-N (0-1, 1-1) Bailey Conklin, Trevor Henderson and Terrance Studlack scored the Malone goals and Kaden Pickering of N-N (0-1, 1-1) opened the scoring with a first period goal from Austin Cousineau.

Brad Richards stopped 20 shots for N-N which downed the Northwood Prep Bs 4-1 on Monday.
