Keenan, Netto star in Watertown’s 103-75 swim win over Carthage

Andrew Keenan and Michael Netto each won two individual events to pace Watertown past Carthage, 103-75 on Thursday in an “A” Division boys swimming meet in the Frontier League.

Keenan won the 100-yard freestyle and 200 freestyle events for the Cyclones (2-0), and Netto prevailed in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke.

Watertown won all but one event against the Comets (0-2).

SOUTH JEFFERSON 95, INDIAN RIVER 88

The Spartans (1-1) won only two events — the 100 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay — but finished second in nine events to secure a FL triumph in Philadelphia.

Dennis Zhou (200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke), Ethan Klock (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly) and Josh LaClair (1-meter diving, 50 freestyle) each won two individual events for the Warriors (1-1).

BOYS BASKETBALL

SOUTH JEFFERSON 64, CARTHAGE 51

Tom Bassett scored a season-high 32 points, helping to guide the undefeated Spartans to a FL crossover victory over the Comets in Adams.

Jake Worden grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with nine points, and Jordan Schloop added 11 points for South Jefferson (4-0 overall, 3-0 league).

Peyton McLaurin led Carthage (2-1) with 27 points, while Walter Jeter provided 10 points and 10 rebounds.

SACKETS HARBOR 56, ALEXANDRIA 32

Josh Keruski made four 3-point field goals, finishing with 21 points, to power the Patriots past the host Purple Ghosts in a “D” Division game at Alexandria Bay.

Colton Belcher provided 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Zach Rousseau supplied 11 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals for Sackets Harbor (4-0).

Zach Heschke and Nick Shangraw scored 10 points apiece for Alexandria (1-3).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

INDIAN RIVER 51, A-P-W 17

Sarah Mattingly scored a game-high nine points to lead the Warriors past the Rebels in a crossover game at Parish.

Katie Brierton recorded eight points and six steals, Paige Fayette finished with seven assists and six steals, and Emily Kuba grabbed seven rebounds for Indian River (3-0).

Kylee Bartlett led Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (2-2) with seven points.

VOLLEYBALL

WATERTOWN 3, INDIAN RIVER 0

Stacia Wallace served up 19 points, including nine aces, and had three kills as the host Cyclones won a “A’ Division match in the FL, 25-13, 25-21, 25-8.

Nemesis Ruiz tallied three aces, 11 kills and 10 service points for Watertown (2-1, 2-2), and Jenna Hibbard had three aces and 12 assists.

Asia Bliss totaled six aces and three kills for the Warriors (0-3).

LOWVILLE 3, SOUTH LEWIS 0

Tash Widrick’s 22 assists and 10 service points helped the Red Raiders beat the Falcons in straight sets, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23, in a FL “C” Division match at Lowville.

Haley Riley and Rachael Waite provided 13 and 10 kills, respectively, while Erica Lucas generated 16 digs and Chelsea Koster added 12 digs for Lowville (2-1).

Liz Egnew provided 14 kills and three blocks, Tasha Ortlieb scored 10 service points to go with six digs, and Alicia Andrews added seven digs and two aces for South Lewis (1-2).

THOUSAND ISLANDS 3, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 0

Autumn Dutcher served up 13 service points, including seen aces, and had seven kills as the Vikings won “C” Division match, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-13.

Ally Cornaire chipped in 12 service points, including three aces, and seven assists for Thousand Islands (1-3), and Amie Ferguson had seven service points and seven assists.

Daryan Wheeler totaled, 12 service points, including six aces, and two digs for the Panthers (0-4). Jenna White had seven service points, including six aces, and seven kills.

WRESTLING

INDIAN RIVER 72, SOUTH LEWIS 6

The Warriors earned eight bouts by pin to beat the Falcons in a FL interdivision meet at Turin, giving head coach Jamee Call his 250th career victory.

Alex Avery (285 pounds) provided a pin in 57 seconds and Sonny McPherson (170) needed just a minute to notch his pin for Indian River (2-0).

Damion Dennee (126) won via pin for South Lewis (0-1).

SOUTH JEFFERSON 55, LOWVILLE 25

Spartans’ 106-pound eighth-grader Caleb Beach needed just 20 seconds to earn his first career pin in an interdivision victory over the host Red Raiders at Lowville.

Jon Crast (132), Antonio Diaz (220) and Ryan Charlebois (195) also provided pins for South Jefferson (2-0).

Brandon Fayle (285), Tyler Bray (145) and Jacob Curry (152) won their bouts by pin for Lowville (5-2, 2-1).

HOCKEY

CICERO-NORTH SYRACUSE 10, IHC 1

Eric Hamilton scored four goals and Matt Fiume totaled five points as the Northstars defeated the Cavaliers in a Division I East game in Watertown.

Fiume finished with two goals and three assists for C-NS (2-1) and goalie Alex Johnston made 17 saves.

Grant Chamberlain made 41 saves for IHC (1-1).
