NORFOLK - Bouncing back from its first loss of the season, the Madrid-Waddington Boys Basketball team downed Norwood-Norfolk 81-24 in NAC North action.
The visiting Yellowjackets led 19-4 by the end of the first quarter as they bounced back from a loss to Brushton-Moira earlier this week.
Maurice Rease led all scorers with 12 points in the winning effort. Richard Wright netted 11 points followed by Jacob Barney with 10 and Colin OBryan with nine. Greg Thompson, James Hunt and TJ Gagnon all finished with eight points.
Kyle Martens paced N-N wth five points. Aaron Chandler and Dustin Fisher each netted four .
Harrisville 70 - Gouverneur 48: Nate Weaver delivered 20 points and nine rebounds and Joey Butts tallied 19 points wth six steals as the Pirates moved into todays championship of their own tournament against Regionapolis Notre Dame of Kingston, Ont. which defeated Watertown IHC 70-66 in overtime.
We have our work cut out for us against Notre Dame. They have size, shooters and they defend well, said Harrisville Coach Brian Coloney.
Watertown IHC is a good team and they played very well.
Devin Cox paced Gouverneur with 17 points.
